Thanks + News!

Thanks to each of you for making our first month in the web world a massive success! We will be adding features to the site moving forward, and one of those will be the addition of more editorial content. Accordingly, we’ve added a new section, “Opinion”, to the site. This will allow us to separate our news and opinion pieces, in addition to allowing our readers to interact with differing views.

We want to be a source on which you rely for news on the Vols, yet hope to continue our growth into a site which addresses multiple college and pro sports. One thing we will be doing is regularly sharing links to the week’s top news with the inclusion of my take on the prevalent issues across the sports universe. Some will involve the Vols, others won’t. Hope you enjoy and we welcome your comments!

In Knoxville, basketball has seemingly been an afterthought for most of the year, but Tennessee is a team to watch closely in the coming weeks. After going winless on the road this season, the Vols picked up two road wins in four days this week; granted, the wins were over two of the worst teams in the conference in South Carolina (12-11, 2-8) and Vanderbilt (9-14, 3-8). It’s not necessarily who the Vols beat, but that they won on the road and started to look like a team with some life. Trae Golden returned from a hamstring injury to look like the player who led the Vols in scoring halfway through the season, and Jarnell Stokes continued his dominant play. Tennessee stands at 78th in the latest RPI rankings, and with a couple of wins, will be back in the hunt for an NCAA bid.

Can the Vols make a run? Are they turning a corner? My friend John Osborne took a look at these Vols, or really two looks, from both a glass half full and glass half empty perspective. I highly recommend you check out his column by clicking here. As for me, I’m a glass half full kind of guy and believe these Vols have some life. We’ll find out when they host No. 25 Kentucky, Saturday at 1 p.m.
