2014 Recruiting: Vol Target Spotlight, Part 4.

KNOXVILLE— The Vols have offered more than 135 prospects in the 2014 class, and we’re accordingly building our 2014 recruiting database. We have info on several of Tennessee’s top targets on our “2014 Vol Targets” page. Below you’ll find info on two more targets, linebacker Dillon Bates and receiver Dominique Booth. We’ve included them on our targets page as well.

Dillon Bates

4-star Rivals and 247Sports
6-3, 220 pounds, Linebacker
Ponte Vedra, FL (Ponte Vedra)

The son of former Vol and Dallas Cowboy safety Bill Bates, Dillon is one of the most sought-after prospects in the country. He’s rated as the No. 58 player in the nation by Rivals, and has offers from over two dozen schools. He recorded 63 tackles (eight for a loss), three interceptions, and two forced fumbles last year. Bates has been timed running a 4.6 40-yard dash, and has the versatility to play multiple linebacker positions. He attended junior day at Tennessee (Feb. 16th) and left with the Vols in his top five. The talented linebacker plans on visiting campus again once the Vols start spring practice. Ohio State, Florida, Notre Dame, Alabama, Oklahoma, and Texas A&M are all serious contenders to sign him.

Dominque Booth

4-star 247Sports, Rivals, and Scout
6-1, 195 pounds, Receiver
Indianapolis, IN  (Pike)

Rated as the No. 1 player in Indiana, Booth is also ranked as one of the top 250 players nationally by Rivals and 247Sports. He caught 67 passes last season for 853 yards and 13 touchdowns. Booth became familiar with Jones and his staff when they were at Cincinnati, and he took an unofficial visit to Tennessee shortly after Jones was hired (January 4th). Look for Booth to make another trip to Knoxville once spring practice begins. He has the Vols and Missouri in his top two, with Indiana, Michigan State, Vanderbilt, and Mississippi State also contending.
